My family moved to Va Beach into the Plaza Apartments in 1964 and my mother passed away 6 months later. My father, Bud Laubach, was left to deal with three girls, age 8 (me),10 & 18. We were fortunate that Shelby lived across the hall. She was a big help to us. We remained friends over the years and I even worked for her and Jim at the Surf and Sand during several summers. She was a wonderful woman and many times while I was growing up, Shelby provided me with the female guidance I so desperately needed. I will always be grateful for all that she did for me over the years. My thoughts, prayers and love are with the entire family.
