Roswell Augustus  Beede
Roswell “Gus” Beede, 84 went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2016. Gus was born July 2, 1931 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to the late Ralph and Della Beede.
He was a combat veteran of the Korean War, having served in the 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He later joined the US Navy and retired as a Senior Chief after 22 years of service. He also retired from federal civil service. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Father Nicholas J. Habets Council #4632 of the Knights of Columbus. He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and dearly loved his native New England.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 62 years, Priscilla Beede, daughter Teresa (Charles) Phillips, son Tom Beede, grandchildren Amy (Chris) Welch, Christy (Dean) Lester, Kimberly (Matt) Conell, and Patrick Romanczyk; great-grandchildren Lauren Welch, Logan Welch, Zachary Lester, Derek Lester and Kole Conell; and a host of other family and friends.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 5th, 2016 at 12 noon at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1396 Lynnhaven Parkway, Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service. Full military honors will be rendered at the church following the Mass, with a reception to follow. Private burial will be held at a later date. Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Chesapeake will be caring for arrangements.
