CHESAPEAKE—Marvin Woodrow Vickers, Sr., 83, of the 3100 block of Joseph Avenue went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2004 in Chesapeake. A native of Gilkey, NC, he was the son of the late Samuel T. and Polly Yelton Vickers and the husband of the late Madie Evelyn Hamlett Vickers. A retired control operator with Cargill Company, he was a staff sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II serving in the Philippines and Corrigador. He was a member and deacon of Southside Baptist Church, Chesapeake.

He is survived by one daughter, Juanita V. Womack and her husband, Don, of Virginia Beach; one son, Marvin Woodrow Vickers, Jr. and his wife, Shirley of Danville, VA; four grandchildren, Sean Vickers, DeAnna Jones, Dylan Womack, and Kelsey Womack; one great grandchild, Alayna Vickers, and his faithful caregiver, Serena Fuentes.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel with Rev. Gregory Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. The body will then be sent to Swicegood Funeral Home, Danville, VA for services and burial.
