CHESAPEAKEWilliam J. Bill Taylor, Jr., 72, of the 1400 block of Hazel Avenue, went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2005. A native of Tunis, NC, he was the son of the late William James Taylor, Sr. and Edith Spivey Taylor. He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church and a former member of Indian River Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Sunday School teacher and bus driver. He had a servants heart and was willing to help in any way that he was needed. An Air Force veteran, he retired after 25 years as a truck driver with Colonial Stores. He was the owner of Taylor General Hauling, Inc. for 15 years.
Surviving are his beloved wife of almost 47 years, Merilyn Ann White Taylor; two daughters, Mary Anne Taylor Knox, and Edie Kernodle and her husband, Larry, all of Virginia Beach; two sons, William James Billy Taylor, III and his wife, Stacie of Ahoskie, NC, and Tom Taylor of Norfolk; two brothers, Alva Dink Taylor of Chesapeake and Carroll Taylor and his wife, Nancy of Tunis, NC; grandchildren, Danny Taylor of Ahoskie; Dalton and Lani Kernodle and Caroline and Charles Knox, all of Virginia Beach; and one great grandchild, Hailey Foster of Ahoskie, NC. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Kernodle.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake with Rev. Larry Ryals officiating.
