Samuel Benjamin  Piver
Samuel Benjamin Piver, 83, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at his home in Chesapeake, VA. He was born in Ash, NC. Sam was the youngest of 11 siblings, of which only one sister, Lillian, is living. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War before working for Norfolk Dredging Company for 46 years. Sam loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. When asked how he was doing, he would say, "Pretty good for an old man."

He is loved and remembered by all, but especially so by his loving wife of 47 years, Beth; sons, Radford and his wife, Gladys; Chad and his wife, Christi; grandchildren, Samantha, Ariel, Radford, and Khalessi; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Centerville Baptist Church, 908 Centerville Turnpike, Chesapeake on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. A service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Centerville Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk with no graveside service. As a three-time cancer survivor, his family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/donate or to Centerville Baptist Church at the address above.
