Chesapeake: On February 17th Ray Calvin Owens’ body succumbed to cancer but his soul already belonged to the Lord Jesus Christ. He was 82 and is survived by his wife Shirley Musselman Owens; a sister, Ruth Owens; two children, Penny Parker and husband Ricky and son Ray Calvin Owens Jr.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Ray owned Fire Equipment Engineering Company for many years. He was active in several area churches over the span of 60 years including Tabernacle Church, Glengariff Baptist, Atlantic Shores Baptist and Bethel Baptist. He served as deacon and bus evangelism worker. He will be remembered as one who loved Jesus and his family and was always prepared to share his faith with others. His final years were used to minister to the needs of others.



A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park, Va. Beach. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 1832 Elbow Road, Chesapeake, VA 23320.
