Obituary

Lucile M. McNamara (Lucie) formerly retired to Wilmington, NC, passed away on March 27, 2020, in Chesapeake, VA, in the sure hope of seeing her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
She was born in Mont-Joli, Quebec, Canada June 7, 1924, to the late Auguste and Louise Levesque.
Lucile and her family loved the “Red Cottage” on the St. Lawrence River where she and her brothers and sisters spent their summers in Wilmington, NC. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church.
Prior to moving to Wilmington, Lucile graduated from Avila University Kansas City, Missouri. She used her education to teach French at Morristown H.S., Morristown NJ.

Lucile was generous, stylish and adventurous; she spent the summer of Petula Clark’s famous “Downtown” (1964) in France with her cherished friend - Martha Piper. Lucile’s close friends were too many to document herein but included Mary Z, Alice Murphy & Betty Scott. Lucile was an avid winter sports aficionado; she was an expert figure skater, downhill skier and even cross-country skier on the suburban streets of New Jersey.

She treasured her family and was always ready to encourage and help each member. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Murray J McNamara (Johnny Mack) [who she met in Hollywood CA at The Roosevelt Hotel while vacationing with her Mom; the Mother & Daughter noticed the handsome Naval Officer in his Whites – and the rest, as they say, is history]; two brothers Omer Levesque and Marius Levesque, two sisters, Yolande McCallum and Germaine Flackbart. Lucie and her sister Germaine were best of friends and even well into their 80’s conversed by phone sometimes much of the night while nearly a continent apart.

She is survived by a son, Brian Peter McNamara and wife, Sabrina Willis; stepdaughter,Tracy Traher-Frangos and daughter, Joey J Smith. She is also survived by a daughter, Carol A MacDonald and husband, William H MacDonald, their children, Matthew MacDonald and wife, Anna MacDonald, Ian MacDonald and wife, Teslyn MacDonald, Heidi Reeve and husband, Will Reeve, Nicholas MacDonald and wife, Tyler MacDonald; and four great grand-children, Claire MacDonald, Amelia MacDonald, Joshua Reeve and Levi Reeve; and many extended family members. Heartfelt thanks to Kindred Hospice and Chesapeake Place Assisted Living.

To adhere to CDC guidelines for social distancing there will be no formal visitation. The family will not be receiving friends, those choosing may visit Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 from 10 to 3 p.m. She will be laid to rest in a private service at Albert G. Hello, I am Sabrina's Mother and I also remember the time at Christmas when Brian, Sabrina and Lucy came to the desert at Jennifer's House. Lucy was so happy and kept saying "there are so many beautiful guests " they all must be Actors!
Lucy also liked Andre Riue' a wonderful player of all the Johann Strauss music ......Since I and Lucy loved the program on PBS
Lucy sent me 2 CDs so I could enjoy the music and I danced with the music at home.

Lucy was person that loved music, beauty and art. She was a wonderful person. May she rest in peace!
