CHESAPEAKE—James William “J.B.” Overton, 68, of the 2300 block of Haywood Avenue, went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2004 in Chesapeake. A native of Norfolk County, he was the son of the late William James and Lottie Mae Culpepper Overton. A graduate of South Norfolk High School, he worked as the fleet supervisor with 25 years of service at Marva Maid Dairy, Newport News, and retired as a construction supervisor with Chesapeake School System for 10 years. He was a member and past chairman of the deacons of Raleigh Heights Baptist Church and a Marine veteran.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Linda Peel Overton; one daughter, Lynn Marie Wasinger and her husband, Kevin, all of Chesapeake; two sons, James Linwood Overton and his wife, Deborah, of Kill Devil Hills, NC and William Andrew Overton and his wife, Deana, of Chesapeake; and eight grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Raleigh Heights Baptist Church with Rev. James Thompson, Rev. Henry Napier, and Rev. Paul Menard officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. and at the residence at all other times.
