CHESAPEAKE--James Durwood "Hank" Hanbury,76, of the 1100 block of Orville Avenue, died October 10, 2002 at his residence with family and friends by his side. Hank was born in the old city of South Norfolk, Virginia to the late Louis Fletcher Hanbury, Sr. and Mary Blanchard Hanbury. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served aboard the USS Nevada BB36 and retired after 39 years of service as a propeller mechanic with Naval Air Rework Facility. He was a member of South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church and a big fan of the Washington Redskins.

He is survived by his loving wife Margaret Lowrance Hanbury, one son, Roy Hanbury and his wife, Tina; two daughters, Jame'D' Ann Wingood and her husband, Duane and Charlee Jo Tolentino and her husband, Ricky; four grandchildren, D'Anna and David Wingood, Amber Hanbury, and Dakota Tolentino; two sisters, Marie McKnight of South Norfolk and Marion Trueblood and her husband, Bill of Virginia Beach; and two brothers, Louis Fletcher Hanbury, Jr. and his wife, Ruth and Warren C. Hanbury, all of South Norfolk, a number of special nieces and nephews, and his Lowrance family sister-in-laws and brothers-in-laws. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Roy Linwood Hanbury.

A graveside service will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Amos Eby officiating. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel on Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m. and at the residence at all other times.
