CHESAPEAKE – Herbert LeRoy Curtis, 70, of the 1100 block of Myrtle Avenue passed away April 10, 2005 in Chesapeake. A native of Norfolk he was the son of the late Ernest C. and Hattie L. Stallings Curtis. He was a mailer at the Virginian Pilot. And served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sherry Sykes Curtis; a daughter, Debbie Curtis and her fiancee’, Richard Moore, all of Chesapeake; a sister, Lois Ann Edwards and her husband, Larry of Norfolk; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances and Donald Barrett of Portsmouth; two special nephews, Carl Edwards and John Aemisegger; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by four siblings.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake with Rev. Robert E. Jordan officiating. Burial will be private in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
