E. “Ed” Moore, Jr. (Marilyn), her brother, Brad Moore (Kaydee), and her niece, Taylor Moore. She is also survived by her aunts, Kathy Morse, Fay Donovan, Carole Thompson, and Georgia Thompson; her uncles, Danny Moore, Blake Thompson, Frank Thompson, Jerry Thompson and many, many cousins. She was predecessed in death by her grandparents, William A. Thompson and Virginia E. Thompson and Murriel Barter; two uncles, William A. Thompson, Jr. and Richard Thompson and two aunts, Nelly E. Even though Mandy was born with spina bifida, she was quite active. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. She participated in sports with Norfolk Parks & Recreation including track and field events, the Norfolk Maces Wheelchair Basketball Team, and the Uppers & Downers Bowling. She was a 1994 graduate of Maury High School and attended TCC Virginia Beach campus for a short while. She volunteered at the Norfolk Public Library, the after school program Club Sandwich at church, volunteered in the church office, and taught Sunday School.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Lake Taylor Transitional Hospital in Norfolk for all of the wonderful care they gave to Mandy over the last four months and especially for the loving care of her and her family in her final days. She was treated with respect, love, and many grew to love her as family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Club Sandwich at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. A memorial service to celebrate Mandy’s life will be held at Wesley Memorial United Church, July 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. by The Reverend Scott Beck. Please wear purple.
