Thelma Sewell Overton
Thelma Sewell Overton, 77, of Lobaugh Drive passed away February 1, 2013. She was born in Kinston, North Carolina to the late Thaddious and Olive Harper Sewell. She was the Chief Financial Officer with Bailey Parker Construction, and served as past President of the National Women in Construction; a longtime member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church and currently attended Bethel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, George Carey Overton; daughter, Lynda Sue Overton; son, George Edward Overton; grandchildren, Zachary Dustin Allen, Summer Patrice Johnston and Brittany Shea Jackson; five great grandchildren; her twin sister, Selma Sewell Herweyer; and brother, William H. Sewell and his wife, Margaret.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, 1832 Elbow Road, Chesapeake on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 12 Noon with a time of fellowship following the service. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1503 Michaels Road, Henrico, VA 23229-2472 or Bethel Baptist Church.
