I worked with Randy at WAVY for many years, and probably talked with him more over the 2way, or so it might seem. He would be tuning in my microwave signal for a news live shot, or video feed. Often I would stop by master control when I returned to the station after the news and he always gave a cheery, Big Dave! hello. I can still hear him say it.
Now after the service I am thinking of him, and the song "Abraham, Martin, and John" by Dion popped into my head. I have probably not thought about that song since the 60's, although I always liked it. I think, I realize what that song is really about. Wish I had thought about this at the service.
I'm so sorry he is gone, and my deepest sympathy.
