Rowland James "Jimmy" Paxson, Jr., 82, passed away September 1, 2015. Rowland was born in Norfolk County to the late Lillian Johnson Paxson and Rowland J. Paxson, Sr. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Richard E. Paxson. Jimmy served his country in the United States Army, following his military service he worked for the civil service as a computer analyst and retired after 35 years. Jimmy enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother, Richard. He was a wonderful, loving father, brother and friend to all he knew.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Jeanne P. Jennings (Chuck); sons, Rowland J. Paxson, III (Lisa), Joseph M. Paxson, John M. Paxson (Catherine); grandchildren, Rowland J. Paxson, IV (Carly), John M. Paxson, II and Courtney M. Paxson; sisters, Nancy Whiting and Patsy Beasley (Elbert); cousin, Shirley Paxson; best friend of 58 years, Joe Pierce; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 5 to 7pm. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, September 4, 2015, at 2 pm at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake with military honors. A heartfelt thank you to his loving and caring nurses, Ciaria, Marie, Tina and John. A very special thank you to Sherry Colbert, she is our heavenly angel sent from above to care for Dad with all her love.
