Obituary

Linda C. McCarren, 72, of Virginia Beach passed away peacefully Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Sentara Hospice House. She was born in Corinth, MS, to the late, Vernon Lowell Parrish & Virginia “Dott” Sasser & raised in Memphis, TN. She is predeceased by her parents as well as a brother, Calvin Duncan & fur babies Shadow & Louie.

Everyone that knew Linda loved her. She was known for her infectious laugh & smile, generosity, kindness, huge heart, fighting spirit, love for animals & strong “southern will”. Raised in Memphis, TN, she came to Florida in her early 20’s where she went to Cosmetology school & owned a beauty salon, then went on to work at the Diagnostic Clinic in Largo, FL. In 2000, she worked for Sports Physical Rehab in Kenosha before moving to VA. In 2008, she worked for EVMS for 6 years before retiring. She attended St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. She loved to cook her southern dishes, play bingo & cards, car rides down the beach & road trips, spending hours in the grocery or retail stores “just looking” & going to the movies. Most of all she loved her family unconditionally & being with them daily. Linda believed family was not just blood & lived her life showing love, compassion & kindness to anyone that crossed her path.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Angela Wiltfong (John Jr.) of Virginia Beach; son, Paul V. McCarren of Williamsburg; grandchildren Michael Brian Wiltfong; Alexandra Megan Wiltfong (fiancée Josh) & Jordan Lynn Wiltfong; great-grandchildren Phoenix, Aurora & Ariel Wiltfong (Michael) & R.J. Stewart & Prudence Stewart (Alexandra); sisters-in-love, Mary Lu Zangara (Phil) & Melody Kraai (Jim); & numerous nieces, nephews & other cherished family friends.

Services & celebrations of life will be held at a later date both in Virginia & Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the VBSPCA or Pinellas County, FL SPCA. Please visit her book of memories at www.grahamfuneralhome.com for services updates, pictures, memories or to leave notes/memories for the family.

How do I tell you about my best friend and sister from another Mother. Linda and I have known each other for 40 years. We met at St Patrick Catholic Church our Angela and Nicole were in kindergarten together. We were like the dynamite duo, besides being BFF we owned a business together. All these years we were each others confidant, always supporting each other with love. So many great times from raising our children, family parties holidays, and vacations to Disney. Friends like this only come once in a lifetime. How i miss her such a huge void in our lives. Last year she spent 8 months in Florida with us and even though she was very ill we would try to go for lunch between Dr apps. And I would cook and make her favorites. I would tell her were making more memories. I wish for one more phone call with her. I will always love you until we meet again.

I was so saddened by this news. I worked with Linda at EVMS for her last 6 years before she retired. Boy did we shed a tear when she left! She was without a doubt one of the most amazing "front desk receptionist/scheduler" that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Her calm demeanor, amazing sense of humor, infectious smile and her "nothing is impossible" attitude were just a few of the many qualities that I appreciated so much. Every life she touched was enriched by her spirit. I told her when she retired that I was happy she was doing it because she would be able to take care of herself and her health but I told her she was irreplaceable... and indeed that she was! She will always have a special place in my heart.
I pray that the sadness and heaviness in your hearts will soon be filled with happy memories to comfort you and help your hearts heal.
My deepest condolences and much love to all your family
