Obituary for Linda Carolyn McCarren

Linda C. McCarren, 72, of Virginia Beach passed away peacefully Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Sentara Hospice House. She was born in Corinth, MS, to the late, Vernon Lowell Parrish & Virginia “Dott” Sasser & raised in Memphis, TN. She is predeceased by her parents as well as a brother, Calvin Duncan & fur babies Shadow & Louie.

Everyone that knew Linda loved her. She was known for her infectious laugh & smile, generosity, kindness, huge heart, fighting spirit, love for animals & strong “southern will”. Raised in Memphis, TN, she came to Florida in her early 20’s where she went to Cosmetology school & owned a beauty salon, then went on to work at the Diagnostic Clinic in Largo, FL. In 2000, she worked for Sports Physical Rehab in Kenosha before moving to VA. In 2008, she worked for EVMS for 6 years before retiring. She attended St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. She loved to cook her southern dishes, play bingo & cards, car rides down the beach & road trips, spending hours in the grocery or retail stores “just looking” & going to the movies. Most of all she loved her family unconditionally & being with them daily. Linda believed family was not just blood & lived her life showing love, compassion & kindness to anyone that crossed her path.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Angela Wiltfong (John Jr.) of Virginia Beach; son, Paul V. McCarren of Williamsburg; grandchildren Michael Brian Wiltfong; Alexandra Megan Wiltfong (fiancée Josh) & Jordan Lynn Wiltfong; great-grandchildren Phoenix, Aurora & Ariel Wiltfong (Michael) & R.J. Stewart & Prudence Stewart (Alexandra); sisters-in-love, Mary Lu Zangara (Phil) & Melody Kraai (Jim); & numerous nieces, nephews & other cherished family friends.

Services & celebrations of life will be held at a later date both in Virginia & Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the VBSPCA or Pinellas County, FL SPCA.
