The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of George McGovern can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Mary Cosio

I was a student of Mr McGovern at Frank W Cox High School. I remember his method of teaching and lectures as being very dynamic. He always had my attention and especially when the class discussed Watergate. Mr McGovern was very passionate about honesty, integrity, and just doing the right thing. I received a B in his class, which was my highest grade. He really cared about his students and wanted us to be our very best. I always appreciated him and wanted to thank him. I've lived in California since the early 80s and in recent years have thought a lot about the teachers who have made a difference in my life. The ones who made an impact on my way of thinking and doing things. I wish I had been able to tell Mr McGovern he was one of those teachers. I'm sure he was for many. Being married to a doctor and having a daughter in surgical oncology residency, it saddens me to know this great and giving man, our dear teacher experienced what my husband and daughter talk about frequently, cancer. Our Lord now has him in his loving arms and he's sleeping with the Angels. Thank you Mr McGovern. You were the best. Mary Palacios Cosio
