Obituary for Yoshiko Caldwell

"My beautiful and loving mother with whom I was lucky enough to spend 55 years with, took her last breath on December 29, 2022. My heart is crushed as I have to lay her to rest."
Yoshiko Caldwell, 82, was born on September 15, 1940 in Ibaragiken, Japan. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years Shirley Caldwell; and daughter, Sandra Baker. Yoshiko and Shirley met while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force on a tour in Japan. They eventually settled in Chesapeake, VA. Upon arriving in the USA, she was so proud to become a U.S. citizen. She went on to get her high school diploma as well as her cosmetology license. She also worked many years as a contact lens inspector until she retired. She always worked so hard to provide a better life for her family. She loved to do so many things, especially gambling. She loved animals, especially her doggies. She never stepped outside without being all made up, and you would never see her without looking her best. She always made caring for her family a priority in life, and she had such unconditional love for all of her kids and grandchildren.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janet Caldwell; son, Donald Caldwell (Conchita); grandchildren, Michael Caldwell (Christina); and a host of other family members and many special lifelong friends scattered throughout the U.S. I would like to thank the most amazing friends, Natalie, Brandi, and Mrs. Riggs for their support during this most difficult time.

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 in Albert G. Horton, Jr. State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk. Please visit her webpage at www.grahamfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence to the family. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers to please offer thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
