Obituary for Winifred Costin "Winnie" Stoneman

Winifred "Winnie" Costin Stoneman, 74, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, June 25, 2021. Winifred was born on the Eastern Shore of Virginia to the late Marvin "Bosco" and Barbara Costin. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Glenn E. Stoneman. She graduated from Norview High School class of 1965 and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist in Norfolk. She was a hairdresser at Hair Plus in Norfolk for many years. Winnie loved to quilt, and has made many special blankets for her nieces and nephews through the years. She was a member of the Tidewater Quilt Guild until declining health made it difficult to get to the meetings. Winnie became a member of Virginia Chevy Lovers club with her husband, Glenn. May memories of her kindness and compassion for others be a blessing to us all.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Kimberly S. Boyd (husband Chris); son, Ken Stoneman. In addition to her children, she was loved and known as "Nana" by two grandsons, Tyler and Jordan Boyd.
As an only child herself, she felt blessed to have Carolyn Stevens (Gary), Linda Worth (George) and Joanne Vrhovac (Jack) as sister-in-laws, and loved deeply Glenn's step-mother, Laura Stoneman. She was blessed with many dear friends that stayed close and in touch since childhood bringing her much joy. The family would like to express deep gratitude to Westminster Cantebury At Home Hospice for the wonderful care that she received.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 6pm-8pm. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, July 9, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Winnie's honor may be made to Lake Taylor Hospital Auxiliary. Please visit www.grahamfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence to the family.
