Willie Edward Ivey, Jr., 95, peacefully passed away on April 9, 2023. He was born in Hertford (New Hope), North Carolina to the late Willie and Selma Ivey. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by 3 brothers, 3 sisters and 2 grandchildren, Jessica A. Sykes and Jonathan P. Blair. Willie married the love of his life on September 2, 1950, Charlotte Faircloth Ivey. They shared an incredible 71 years of marriage together before her passing on August 11, 2022. Willie worked very hard as a brick mason, owning his own company. "The best brick mason in town"! He retired after many years doing what he loved--his true passion. When he wasn't growing his family or his business, Willie could be found in the garden. His green thumb was legendary!

Left to cherish his memory are his 5 loving children, son, Eddie Ivey (Sharon); daughter, Becky Phillips (Jay); daughter, Linda Murphy (Bert); daughter, Shirley Ivey; son, Rick Ivey; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Oscar E. Ivey (Buddy); numerous extended family members, dear friends and his most precious fur baby, Sassy.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gordon Ellsworth officiating.
