Obituary for William Kenneth Ghormley

William Kenneth "Ken" Ghormley, 65, passed away November 23, 2016. Ken was born in Haskell, Texas to the late Virgil and Nattie Foley Ghormley. He was predeceased by his sister, Gladys Grace Lee. Ken served in the US Navy during the Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Following his time in the US Navy, Ken continued serving as a civilian as a Fleet Forecaster (WEAX) and Ship Routing Officer (OTSR).

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 42 years, Debra Jane Wise Ghormley; daughter, Deanna R. Parnham (Thomas); sons, William H. Ghormley (Amanda), Douglas B. Ghormley, and Richard A. Ghormley (Nicole); fourteen grandchildren; sisters, Nettie C. Murphy, Betty F. Weeks, and Joyce Musick; brother, James E. Ghormley; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 6-7:30 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Norfolk Apostolic Church, 3131 Azalea Garden Road, Norfolk, with Pastor Michael G. Blankenship officiating. Full military honors and burial will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Norfolk Apostolic Church or to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (www.nmcrs.org).
