Walter Doughtie, March 13, 1931 - September 3, 2017. We mark the passing from the church militant to the church triumphant. Walter was born on March 13, 1931, in the Deep Creek area of Norfolk County to Bessie Dozier Doughtie and Henry Cleveland Doughtie. Walter is preceded by his wife, June Tetterton Doughtie and later, Ruby L. Doughtie. He is also preceded by his grandson, Wesley A. Slye. As the youngest of his siblings he is preceded by brothers and sisters, William H. (Bill), Arthur Lee (Boots), Bessie Louise, Ruth Lucille, Virginia, and James R. (Ray T) Doughtie, Sr. Walter served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired as a Supervisor in the Transportation Department at Little Creek Amphibious Base.

He will be greatly missed by his loving daughters, Terri Karlsson of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, and Teana Smith of Chesapeake, Virginia; his grandsons, Dustin Tyler Capobianco and Curtis Hunter Smith; as well as numerous friends and neighbors.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, Virginia on Friday, September 8, 2017, at 10 a.m. Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Chesapeake will be caring for arrangements.
