Obituary for Valerie "Val" Ann Martin
Valerie "Val" Ann Martin, 79, passed away on December 24, 2022. Val was born on February 19, 1943 in Maidstone, England to the late William and Alice Chapman Palmer. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Alfred Guy Martin.
Val and Guy met while he was serving in the United States Navy on a tour in England. They eventually settled in Chesapeake, Virginia. The two enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends. Val was a founding, active member of River Oak Church. Val also enjoyed working as a florist, where she would use her talents to faithfully provide altar arrangements for many years.
Left to cherish her memory are loving daughter, Julie Dunlow and husband Max; son, Robert Martin; sister, Stephanie Hollis and husband Gordon; grandchildren, Christopher, Caitlin (and her husband Matthew), Courtney (and her fiancé Ryan) and Conner; 8 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 2 p.m. at River Oak Church, 255 Great Bridge Blvd, Cheapeake, with Pastor Heath Burris officiating. Please visit www.grahamfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence to the family.
