Obituary for Terry Joseph Orvis
Terry J. Orvis, age 77, of Chesapeake, VA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2023 at 5:23 AM.
Terry was born in Wichita, Kansas, and grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a true patriot and really loved his country. Terry served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and retired as a CWO 4. He married the love of his life Jackie, at a young age and had two children.
Terry was a successful business owner of a construction company. In his later years Terry was involved in his church (VB1) and was an active member at his grandchildren's school, ILCA. He was known by friends as someone who will be always willing to help. He often helped others advocate for their patient right; making sure they got the best care possible. While Terry was a fighter, he was extremely humble and caring. He was a prayer warrior who always lifted those around him. He constantly looked for opportunities to bless others with random acts of kindness. Terry lived his life believing he could make a difference.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Jaqueline Orvis; his children, son, Michael Orvis(Sandra), and daughter,Lori Curvan(Michael); three grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Johnathan Orvis, Lauren Curvan, and Gabriel Olive; as well as his bother, William "Bill" Orvis(Helen). Terry was preceded in death by several family members and friends including his parents.
A celebration of Life Service will be held at Virginia Beach First Church of the Nazarene at 4413 Wishart Road, Virginia Beach, VA, on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at 10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ivy League Christian Academy, an organization Terry strongly and passionately supported.
