Obituary for Susanne Irwin Glover (Spies)

Susanne I. Glover, 82, passed away Saturday, August 15th in Chesapeake, Virginia following a brief illness. She was born in Lakewood, Ohio on June 8, 1938. Susanne moved to Elyria at a young age and lived there most of her life. Susanne I. Spies married Gary Glover of Elyria on August 5, 1958. They met in middle school and have enjoyed 53 wonderful years of marriage.

Susanne graduated from Elyria High School in 1956. She retired from Elyria City Public Schools, after 34 years of employment. Gary and Susanne moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 1998 to enjoy retirement. While in Wilmington, they enjoyed being a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic. Friends and family will fondly remember Susanne as an avid reader, pinochle player with family, and played bridge with her many friends.

Susanne is survived by her eldest son, Jeffery Glover and his wife, Dr. Nina Garritano of Toledo, Ohio; his son, Gregory Glover of Louisville, Kentucky; and his daughter, Dr. Julie Ruszala and her husband, Rondy Ruszala of Chesapeake, Virginia. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jimmy, Benjamin, Katie, Drew, Kyle, Olivia, and Gioia. Susanne was predeceased by her husband, Gary Glover, and parents, Kathryn Sheehan and Elmer Spies. Susanne has been blessed by being surrounded by a wonderful network of friends throughout her many years in Elyria as well as during her retirement years in Wilmington, North Carolina and Chesapeake, Virginia.

In lieu of sending flowers, the family is asking that donations may be made to Personal Touch Hospice.
