Obituary for Shirley H. Ward (Hallman)
Shirley H. Ward, 80, went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2019. Born in Newport News, Virginia, she was predeceased by her mother, Doris Marie Walthall, and her father, James Hallman. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, James Hallman and Robert Hallman. Shirley loved and adored her sweetheart, Ronald L. Ward, whom she lost in June, 2013. She was a career bus driver, driving for Victory Christian Day School, Chesapeake Public Schools, Gallop Bus Lines, and Venture Tours; a career spanning more than 32 years. Shirley retired in 2001. She was an avid sports fan.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Chris Ward Gooch and her husband, Steve, of Pearl, Mississippi; son, Ronald M. Ward and his wife, Julie, of Corapeake, North Carolina; two sisters, Vivian Rabowsky and Tina Holbert, of Lanexa, Virginia; grandchildren, Timothy Olah and wife, Julie, of Suffolk, Virginia; Sara Sahib and her husband, Tariq, of Norfolk, Virginia; April Gooch Stephenson and her husband, Bobby, of Ridgeland, Mississippi and James H. Gooch, of Seminary, Mississippi and six great-grandchildren, Matthew Walker, Autumn Raines, Raiden Gooch, Sophia Sahib, Sephriam Sahib and Miles Stephenson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. At Shirley's request, a graveside only service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach.
