She was also survived by three sisters, Mary Keener, Helen (Phil) Justice, and Alice Lee, along with a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Shelba was a teacher with the Chesapeake Public School System for 37 years retiring in 2002. Most of those years were at Hickory Elementary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, her son, Sheldon, her parents and five siblings, Barbara Ledford, June Hedden, Hester Keener, Dwight Hedden and Hope Calloway.
She was laid to rest privately at Colonial Grove Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. A Celebrate of Life service will be held at Colonial Baptist Church, 2221 Centerville Turnpike, VA Beach, VA 23464 on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends memorial contributions to either the Shelba H. McFarland Revocable Living Trust to benefit her minor aged grandchildren’s education fund c/o Glenn McFarland-Trustee, 3142 Kendra Ct., Turlock, CA 95382 and/or Colonial Baptist Church children’s ministry and church library programs.

Finally, Mom loved her Starbucks Coffee. In fact, she was an “Institution” at the Starbucks Store for 20 years at 1390 Fordham Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23464. Please visit this location if you are in town to see a memorial tribute to Mom by her Starbucks “family”. We would be honored if you’d take a selfie picture at ANY Starbucks store toasting Mom, have them write “Love Ms Shelba” on your cup. You may send a text to (913) 522-3258 and pictures will be shared during her Celebration Service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Please visit www.grahamfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence to the family.
