Obituary for Sadie Ann Sheets

Sadie Ann Sheets, 86, went to be with the Lord on March 30, 2022, after a short illness. Sadie was born in Pageton, West Virginia to the late William and Lillian David Sexton. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband of 18 years, Russell Ray Sheets, her brother William “Bob” Sexton and sister Janice Snedden.
Sadie grew up in Anawalt, WV, where she met the love of her life 'Ray'. They were married in 1957. They welcomed a son in 1959 and moved to Norfolk, VA in 1960 where their daughter was born. She worked for the Farm Fresh Corporation. She was hired as a cashier then transitioned into the delicatessen and retired as a Pharmacy Technician in 1997. She was a long-time member of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church where she was active in the women's bible study, WMU and sang in the choir. She made many lifelong friends at SMBC. In 2018, Sadie moved to Lighthouse Pointe retirement community. She enjoyed reading novels and magazines, doing word searches, crocheting, and crafting jewelry. Sadie had a gift of gab and never met a stranger. Her sense of humor and strong opinions delighted many people and helped to brighten their days.

She will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael Sheets (Krista) and Kathryn Longworth; grandchildren, Tyler Longworth (Megan), Travis Longworth (Kaylyn), Joshua Sheets (fiancé Aston), Kayla Einhaus (Jeff), and Kasey Sheets; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Elena, and Molly Longworth; sisters, Alice DeHart (Marvin), Sue Sowell, Karen and Ilene Sexton; brothers, Charles "Dean" and Phillip Sexton; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 3-5 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Heath Burris officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk. Please visit www.grahamfuneralhome.com to view the service and leave a condolence to the family.
