Ryan Corbett Jenks, 28, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019. He was born in Norfolk, VA to Frederick C. Jenks III and Betsy Deets Jenks. Ryan was passionate about tree work, enjoyed his work to the point of making it a hobby and owned his own business called A Sharper Saw, LLC. He was a tender soul who helped his aging parents with their needs, always considered others, and cared deeply for those around him. Ryan loved sports; he played basketball, volleyball, baseball, and soccer, with soccer being his passion. He started playing soccer when he was five and continued to play well into his adult life. Ryan was a four year starter for the Indian River Varsity soccer team, alongside multiple local travel teams including, Chesapeake Select, Beach FC, among others. Additionally Ryan became a certified soccer referee handling all age levels of games across Hampton Roads and occasionally refereeing alongside his father and sister.
Left to cherish his memory besides his parents, are his sisters, Candice “Candi” Purnell, Dawn Sarrouf, and Elizabeth “Ellie” Jenks. He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends, far too numerous to name.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 22, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road in Chesapeake. A service will be held Monday at the funeral home at 2pm with a reception to follow. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation in Ryan’s name to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters Lighting the Way Campaign, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507. A celebration of life will be held following the service at Chicho's at 4 pm, 1400 Kempsville Road, (Orchard Square Shopping Center), Chesapeake, VA 23320.
