Ruth Russell Elwood, 101, passed away August 29, 2022. Ruth was born in Key West, Florida to the late Joseph and Juliett Russell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry L. Elwood and daughter, Evelyn M. Elwood. Ruth lived a life full of love and joy. She enjoyed many hobbies, such as gardening and needlework. Most notably, she volunteered for many years with Chesapeake Senior Services. Ruth played the organ and was church pianist for many years, aside from also working as an administrative secretary. She was a proud "Conch" and Key West native, and loved to share stories of growing up there.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving granddaughters, Kim Hodges (Kevin Gilbert) and Elizabeth Hodges Clarke (Jeb Clarke); great-granddaughter, Addison Clarke; and a host of other family and friends.


A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake with Chaplain Chip Pieper officiating.
