Ruth Ann Crawley, 76, was called home by the Lord on April 5th, 2020. She passed away peacefully at her residence. She is daughter of the late John and Eva Akers. She was also preceded in heaven by her sister, Ilene and her son, Kenneth. Left to cherish her memory is William, her devoted husband of 52 years; her son, John and his wife, Bridgette; her grandson, John Tyler; her four loving sisters, Josephine Reed, Dorothy Speight, Betty Fansher, Linda Preedy and her husband, George and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to Ruth’s niece, Kelly Hewitt and Kelly’s daughter, Melanie.

Ruth was retired from the U.S. Government and later was the manager at Curves at Fairfield Shopping Center for several years. She was a special person who possessed numerous great qualities. She was known to her immediate family as Angel Girl. Ruth always put her family first and would do anything she could to help a family member or a friend. Ruth loved to be outside working in the flower bed or you may find her inside making a beautiful wreath. Ruth especially loved the holidays and she opened up her home every Thanksgiving and Christmas for over 40 consecutive years so the family could all be together. Ruth loved the Lord and we know for certain that she is heaven. We will miss you Angel Girl, may you rest in peace at the right hand side of the Lord and Rejoice with your family in Heaven.

Merry Happy Birthday to my mother in law, Ruth Ann in heaven watching down on us from heaven. My fondest birthday will be the family gatherings at the Olive Garden for abundance refills of salad & her favorite pasta dish with chicken & broccoli and warm fresh coffee. The black tie cheesecake was one of her favorite desserts. Ruth loved & spent the holidays with family & friends. Easter time she would hide $$$ & candy in Easter eggs in the yard. I think I scored $25 bucks 1 year. Christmas time we all gather for a wonderful dinner, exchanged presents, and most importantly held hands and sang songs of praises to JESUS, because it was his birthday we were celebrating. Ruth turned me on to going to yard sales and thrift stores too. She told me in order to find the treasures you had to get there early and move quickly. In other words, I needed to make a decision and move on to the next one. Lol, which is totally me, however my friend Karen is worse than me. I will always think of her when I go to yard sales to find treasures, as she would say. I will think of her everyday in the yard gardening as I will my Father, Papa Joe because the two of them have taught me everything I know about having a green thumb and it has paid off until this day. Rest in peace beautiful Ruth Ann we will cherish your memories forever and there be a piece of you that remains in our hearts forever.

today would have been your 77th Birthday. I have so many great memories of celebrating your Birthday with you both as a child and as an adult. the great parties at our house on Kiowa Lane and Chatmoss drive with all the family members present. the parties were especially special because we got to celebrate Grandma Akers birthday as well. I can remember the excitement of getting the house ready for our guests , you always made sure our house looked just right inside and out before any guests arrived, Dad , Kenny and myself used to grumble about the pre-party work that you required of us but it was all worth It, your parties were always the best . I really miss those days mom . I also have great memories of going to Shoney s just to have a hot fudge cake on your Birthday. didn't we all love those. As we all got older and some of your family and friends moved out the area, Olive Garden became your new go to place for your Birthday , every now and again we would get you to try a new place but you loved those breadsticks and salad from Olive Garden. I am certain that even today we would be having take out from Olive Garden with you. Bridgette , Angela and myself always looked forward to celebrating your birthday with you and DAD, but Your Angel Boy , john tyler was especially excited to celebrate your Birthday with his Angel Girl . you also enjoyed having a Birthday Lunch with your sisters each year and they are all thinking of you today . I know that your are in Heaven and that you and Grandma Akers are happy to be celebrating your Birthdays together once again. We miss you Angel Girl

You will be missed Aunt Ruth. As a young girl, you made me feel special and important. When I was 9, you bought me my first pair of sandals and I felt so grown up. When I became a teenager, you were never too busy whenever Paula and I dropped by your house. We had impromptu fun dance parties during those visits. I remember loving your beautiful clothing which you wore so well...but I especially admired your fingernails in those days...LOL. This was way before nail salons became popular so women did their own nails. Yours were long, beautiful and red! You used to chide me about biting my nails but always pointed out my good qualities as well. As an adult, I always felt your love and respect. Once I moved to Florida, we saw each other infrequently but when we did, the years melted away and we were able to laugh like the old days. You will be missed but I know you are with Grandma and the Lord now...vitally alive with your health restored. Our good-bye is only temporary and, one day, our dance parties will begin again. Love you....Janet Murphy Carlo.

Memories of my sister. I was eight when Ruth was born. I loved taking care of her, at first, then she became a handful. She climbed on everything and got into anything she could find. Next memory of her she is about ten years old and writing a play to include all the neighborhood children. She directed of course. She loved telling you what to do. She grew into a beautiful woman. Worked for the government and later for Curves. I went to Curves every day to exercise and visit with her. Once she left Curves she needed something to do and so YARD SALES! She hooked me in and we were off! We had fun doing that. Ruth was always so generous, giving anything she had to her sisters. Helping others made her happy. She was much loved and will be missed by us all. Now i know she is in heaven and i'll be there soon so we will see each other again. Until then, All my love, Dorothy
