Robert L Tyer, 88, went to be with the Lord August 23rd, 2018, at home surrounded by family. He was born December 11, 1929, in Bath, NC. Robert was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Georgie Tyer. They were married September 2, 1951. During the Korean War, Robert maintained the Vought F4U Corsair while serving on the USS Boxer in the Navy. After his service, he taught airplane engine repair in Brazil for 3 years. Robert was a Techrep for Naval Air Engineering Service Unit for the remainder of his career. His passions included fishing, hunting, airplanes, and coin collecting.

Left to cherish his memory are sons, Robert W Tyer (Christie and daughter, Caressa) and James L Tyer; daughter, Janice A Grissom (Buck); grandchildren, Luke and Jasamine; and a host of other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on September 15th, 2018 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, 4200 Shore Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23455 with a reception to follow.
