Condolences

Condolence From: Jeffrey jennings
Condolence: Bob, was one of the nicest people I ever was privileged to know. Years after graduation, he stopped by my house, when he was doing Forensics. We had a long conversation, and was investigating a tragedy in my neighborhood. He hadn't changed a bit since FMA. He was always a great guy in Military School, and had a golden personality. He was a friend, and I was lucky to have him as one .

Condolence: Thoughts and prayers for the whole family. I first met Bob as a cadet at FMA when we both were cadets and then we became fellow NPD employees. Bob was always considered one of the good guys and will always be remembered by those he came in contact with and will be missed.

Condolence From: D.I. (Bucky) Hampton NPD Ret.
Condolence: I was so saddened to hear of Robbie's passing. We also called him Bobbie at the time. We started out together on the "D" platoon in the Ocean View section of Norfolk in 1974. Everyone (including me) said he was the tallest and thinest cop on the NPD. I hope the Lord receives him into his kingdom: I'm sure he will!!!

Condolence From: Tom Simmons
Condolence: I am extremely saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I attended Frederick Military with Bob. At Frederick the two of us were on the track team and worked together as members of the Drum and Bugle Corps. Bob had an infectious smile that was always present, and an easy going manner that always made you feel comfortable when you were around him. I specifically remember him at track meets leading frisbee tosses between events, and in doing so helping us all to unwind and relax! My family's thoughts and prayers are with you, and ask you to remember that in the 23rd Psalm, we walk "through" the valley of the shadow of death, we do not stay there! Bob is home, and we will see him again. Tom and Nanci

Condolence: Bob, was always full of laughter. Joking and sharing a fun message for everyone. He has a great reputation and lots of respect for all his accomplishments, especially as a forensic specialist. I worked in forensics in Virginia Beach and knew Bob as someone I could always count on for assistance in Police matters. We shared many stories, of crime scene and comparing latent fingerprints. He loved his family and my wife and I Send our deepest sympathy to them during this difficult time.

Condolence: Robbie was my freshman roommate at Frederick Military Academy. I watched him get up at 0430 every morning to go to work in the cafeteria to help pay for his schooling. He also worked the dinner shift and was a hard worker and an "Honor Cadet", meaning NO demerits and outstanding grades. We played on the basketball team together. He played JV only his first year, quickly moving to play "center" on the Varsity. He was an excellent ballplayer and the coaching staff loved him.Robbie, Milton Frederick Hartenbower, and Lex Carroll and I all lived in Vass Hall in room 4 that first year.Robbie slept on the top bunk to the right as you walked into the room. I used to go over to his house in Century Homes and hang out with him and his very sweet mom. Even though I was a Portsmouth boy. This IS a great loss to the community and to his FMA brothers. After I received that dreaded call yesterday I was on the phone for hours to his brother cadets. His other roommate Milton Frederick Hartenbower spent an hour on the phone with me. TO HIS FAMILY you were lucky to have such a good man. I write this with tears in my eyes. Goodbye Robbie, love you man.

Condolence: Robbie was a blessing to so many people. I am honored to have known him as my friend and my brother in Christ. He lived out the faith he proclaimed. ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’(Matthew 25:23).
