Obituary for Phyllis Ann Blount

Phyllis Ann Blount passed into the arms of Jesus and the resurrected eternal life on February 5, 2022. Born May 20, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana and following her graduation from Shortridge High School she accepted an invitation and attended Herron School of Art and Design of Indianapolis. She met and married Jack S. Blount of Norfolk, Virginia during his Army service in Indiana and relocated to raise their family of five children in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Jack S. Blount in 2013, and surviving members of her family are children Walter "Dean" Church and wife, Linda; Christopher Blount and Karen Schachtner; Rebecca Blount Beasley and husband Steve; Donna Blount Maleski ; and Amy Blount Bean. In addition, surviving family includes 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
While Phyllis’ accomplishments included her obtaining her Real Estate License and being a Co-Owner/Operator of two local Skating Centers in the 1970’s, her greatest achievement was being a Wife and Mom, who gave all of her heart, life and passion to her family. She absolutely loved the beach, home decorating, shopping with her daughters, an avid reader, supported and attended her children’s and grandchildren’s sports activities from beginning to end, loved playing tennis, watching her Tar Heel’s basketball, baking and cooking for her family and their friends.
Phyllis and Jack were founding members of Aragona Church of Christ and later attended First Baptist Church of Norfolk.
A private service will be held due to Covid concerns on February 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM and will be available for streaming at www.grahamfuneralhome.com along with online condolences. Burial will take place at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery at a future date.
