Obituary for Peggy Lee Armstrong

Peggy Lee Piland Armstrong, 70, of 505 San Pedro Drive Chesapeake, VA died Fri May 28, 2021 in Chesapeake VA. Born on April 15, 1951 in Norfolk VA, she was the daughter of Horace Odell Piland and Dorothy Loretta Brinkley and was the mama of Bummer Armstrong who all preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are her sisters Alfreda “Rita” Lassuy and Francis “Dinky” Seconder.

She met the love of her life, Gordon D. Armstrong of Chesapeake, VA by way of Gum Neck, NC, and they were married June 9, 1979. She is a member of Kempsville Christian Church and now resides in Heaven with her Eternal Father. She was a beloved and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Peggy was a retired Office Manager for Armstrong Welding and Repair, her family’s business, and spent her remaining days loving and nurturing her family, attending grandkids’ sporting events, and celebrating daily how much she loved her husband, daughters and grandkids with texts, phones calls and a great deal of laughter! She loved to shop with her family, watch shows with her granddaughters, and play bingo with her sisters. She was a true gem who was loved by all. She was lovingly referred to as “Queenie.”

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Gordon Armstrong; her daughters Candy Simmons and spouse (Kenny), Dawn Morris and spouse (Jack “Bo”); her grandchildren Casey Simmons, Korey Simmons and fiancé (Jordan), Kevin Simmons, Brooke Morris, Jackson Morris and Carleigh Simmons. Also, her siblings Shirley Rigdon (Charlie), June “Coosie” Kilby (Rufus), Horace “Penny” Piland (Debbie), Debra Kay Rich, Albert Rich (Bonny), Connie Marshall, Gwen White (Rhett), Sheila Bryant (Billy), Jennifer “Jinky” Davenport (Louie), and Tommy Armstrong (Marie).

Visitation will be held at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake VA 23320, on Wednesday, 2 June, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, 3 June, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Kempsville Christian Church, 5424 Parliament Dr. Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Josh Childress, her preacher, will officiate the service. Her internment will be at Chesapeake Gardens, 524 Cedar Rd Chesapeake, VA 23322. Anyone who loved Peggy is welcome to attend.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to Chesapeake’s Finest, City Police Department, specifically Officer Isa Bush and the Fire Fighters and EMTs from Chesapeake Fire Station 15.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Kempsville Christian Church to help share the Gospel of Peggy’s Lord Jesus Christ.
