Obituario de Nuestra Querida Abuelita
Con profunda tristeza, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Olinda Villavicencio, nuestra amorosa y devota bisabuela, abuela, madre y amiga de todos aquellos que en vida tocó. Falleció en paz el 8 de octubre de 2022 con su familia a su lado. Nos dejó, durmiendo plácidamente en su casa de Virginia Beach. Ella estaba en sus 94 años. Olinda era la querida madre de Lorena, orgullosa abuela de Melissa y Mónica, y cariñosa bisabuela de Aiden y Hunter.
Nacida en Ayabaca, Perú, Olinda viajó a través del mar a la desconocida Escocia, para estar con su hija en 1988. Le encantaba cuidar a sus nietas. Era costurera en Perú y hacía hermosos vestidos y disfraces de Halloween para sus nietas. Disfrutó cocinando comidas peruanas tradicionales y algunas comidas no tan tradicionales que siempre intentaremos recrear. Era devota y ferviente católica a la iglesia. Ella disfrutó de las reuniones sociales después de la misa, conversando con los feligreses de la Iglesia St. Luke tomando café y pasteles. Le encantaba la jardinería y plantó variedades de flores exuberantes de vibrantes colores. Mantuvo su jardín hermoso, cuidando cada planta con amor y mucha dedicación, las rosas eran sus favoritas.
Sobre todo, amaba a su familia y amigos e inculcó buenos valores en su hija y nietas que les han servido bien. La extrañaremos mucho y siempre estará en nuestros corazones. Habló de su hogar en Perú con mucho orgullo y de cómo siempre tenía pan y carne fresca del mercado.
Habrá un rosario a las 6:00 pm. seguido de un servicio conmemorativo a las 7:00 pm. en la Iglesia Católica de St. Luke, 2304 Salem Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23456 el viernes 14 de octubre 2022.
Siempre será recordada como una amorosa madre, abuela, bisabuela y cuya mayor pasión fue ayudar a los demás. Esto es solo “hasta luego” por ahora, Abuelita. Te queremos y siempre estarás con nosotros.
Obituary For Our Querida Abuelita
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Olinda Villavicencio, our loving and devoted great grandmother, grandmother, mother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. She passed away with peace and grace on October 8, 2022 with family at her side. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her home in Virginia Beach. She was in her 94th year. Olinda was the beloved mother of Lorena, proud grandmother of Melissa and Monica, and doting great grandmother of Aiden and Hunter.
Born in Ayabaca, Peru, Olinda traveled across seas to the unfamiliar Scotland to be with her daughter in 1988. She relished in caring for her granddaughters. She was a seamstress in Peru and made beautiful dresses and Halloween costumes for her granddaughters. She enjoyed cooking traditional Peruvian meals and some not so traditional meals that we will forever try to recreate. She was a devout Catholic and church goer. She thrived in social gatherings after church, talking the afternoon away over coffee and pastries. She loved to garden and created lush flower beds overflowing with vibrant blossoms. She kept every flower and plant alive with delicate care. A rose was her favorite flower.
Most of all she loved her family and friends and instilled good values in her daughter and grandchildren that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She spoke of her home in Peru with great pride and how she always had fresh bread and meat from the market.
A rosary will be held at 6pm followed by a service at 7pm at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 2304 Salem Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23456 on Friday, October 14, 2022.
She will be always remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and whose greatest passion was helping others. This is only “hasta luego” for now, Abuelita. Te queremos y siempre estarás con nosotros.
