Obituary for Noton Forrest Smithson
Noton Forrest Smithson, 93, passed away March 28, 2019. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Noton A. Smithson and Ethel Massee Smithson. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert and sister, Emily.
He retired in 1980 from the Naval Air Rework Facility, Naval Station Norfolk. In his retirement he enjoyed building and flying remote controlled airplanes and keeping in touch with friends at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach. He was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church and a faithful usher.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Doris Esteen Smithson, daughter, Shirley, and son-in-law, Joe Perez, his grandson, Jason Perez and his wife, Rebecca and a great grandson, Owen James and his sister, Virginia Stancil, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 5, 2019, at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
