Obituary for Nathan Jay Honeycutt

Nathan Jay Honeycutt, 68, had absolutely had enough of mask mandates
and violations of his freedom and conscience, and thus decided he was
opting out of them July 29th, 2021. Conveniently, this occurred
roughly 6 hours before the Governor of Virginia issued another state
mask mandate, so guess who got the last laugh there?

Nathan was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Roscoe Brady and
Blanche Miles Honeycutt. He was born and raised, spending the vast
majority of his 68 years in Virginia. Nathan was the ultimate success
story, the real-life example of what happens in this nation, which he
loved dearly, when a man who is willing to work as hard and as long as
he can, in whatever he puts his hands to, can accomplish. To say that
Nathan came from humble beginnings would be a tremendous
understatement. He left High School in his junior year to start
working. When he was hanging billboards for Turner Advertising in
Norfolk, he met Dawn Marie Caven, who would become his wife in
November of 1973. They would have three children, Angela, Kirsten,
and Jason. Nathan was the best and purest example of a working family
man that this world has to offer. He never, ever hesitated to provide
any help or support to anyone in his path. He began working at
Newport News Shipyard in fall of 1975, where he worked for five years
until he transitioned to the Norfolk International Terminal as a
member of the International Longshoreman Association, where he worked
for the next 28 years. In 1985, he and Dawn bought the home on
Ardmore Avenue, where they would spend the next 36 years raising their
children and grandchildren. Nathan was a devout Christian who loved
the Lord, talking about the Lord, and talking to the Lord. He also
enjoyed fishing, tinkering in his workshop, and working on any project
that involved electricity or telling someone to hold a flashlight.
Nathan was a man who loved God, his wife, his children, and his
country.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dawn Marie Honeycutt,
his daughters Angela Granger and Kirsten Workman, his son Jason Adam
Honeycutt, and granddaughters Natalie, Lily, Audrey and Violet.
