Obituary for Michael Ray Toothman

Michael Ray  Toothman
Michael Ray Toothman, 53, was taken from us along with his son, Matthew on August 7, 2016. Michael was born in Charleston, SC to Rex and Karen Kerns Toothman.
He received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Administration from Old Dominion University. On September 17, 1986, Michael became a member of the Chesapeake Police Department. He became a General Instructor, an Accident Investigator, transferred from Support Bureau to Records and ID, and became an ID Tech. He was appointed Police Officer Specialist, Senior Police Officer, Master Police Officer, and became a member of the SWAT team. He transferred to Criminal Investigation Youth Services Officer, as well as qualified for Fire Arms Instructor. He was a part of the Honor Guard serving his fallen officers since 2004.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Susie D. Toothman; son, Zachary L. Toothman; parents, Rex and Karen Toothman; in-laws, Harry & Fatima Furr; extended family and a host of friends.

Viewing will be held at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held Monday, August 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 215 Las Gaviotas Blvd, Chesapeake with Pastor Kevin Ritter officiating. He and his son, Matthew, will be laid to rest in a private ceremony.
