Michael "Mike" Lee Martin of Virginia Beach, just shy of his 71st birthday, passed away on August 29th, 2021 surrounded by his closest loved ones. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia to Ralph and Peggy Martin. Mike was predeceased by both parents, as well as his older brother, Stephen Martin. He served his country during the Vietnam War as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. As a disabled American Veteran, Mike continued his career in a Military Sealift Command where he received several awards, including his involvement in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mike was known to friends and family as the kindest of souls, always opening his home and his heart to those in need. He worked hard for his family, and fought to ensure they were always well taken care of. Mike also loved animals, especially his daughter, Stacey's dogs, Hailey and Hunter. His love and light will be missed dearly.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sandra Escucha Martin; their three children, Stacey Martin, Michael Martin (wife, Sarah Martin), and Ariel Griffin (husband, Mark Griffin); his two beautiful grandchildren, Charlize and Jaxx Griffin, all of whom he adored. He was very excited to find out that his son Michael and his wife were expecting their first child in April of 2022 before he passed.

Mike will be laid to rest at 9 a.m. on September 7th, 2021 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, at 5310 Milners Rd, Suffolk, Virginia. Please visit www.grahamfuneralhome.com to
