Obituary for Maureen Marie Raike

Maureen Marie Raike, 92, went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2022. “Marie” was born in Kentucky on June 18, 1929 to the late Carl and Minnie Nickell Owens. She moved with her family to West Virginia at a very young age and lived the life of a “coal-miners’ daughter” until she became a Navy wife and moved to Norfolk Virginia. She was happiest taking care of and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her family especially loved her “messy” chicken cooked on the grill and her macaroni salad. Marie loved sitting in the swing built by her husband while she enjoyed her flowers. Holidays and special celebrations were spent at the family home leaving them with a lifetime of heart-warming memories. While she will be sorely missed by her family, they rejoice knowing she is reunited with her husband in their heavenly home.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Clarence Sidney Raike, Sr. and sister, Darlene Clark.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Adele Farmer; sons, Clarence S. "Rick" Raike, Jr. (Skeeter) and Donald Raike; grandchildren, Kimberly Raike and Crystal Evans (Mark); great-grandchild, Sydney Claire Evans; sisters, Margie Davenport and Barbara Lee Owens; brothers, Robert Owens and L.V. Owens; and a host of other family and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake with Pastor John Godfrey, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service (2 to 3 PM). Marie will be privately laid to rest beside her husband at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk.
