Mattie Mae Hopkins, 76, passed away December 3, 2020. She was born in Colerain, NC to the late Anthony and Hettie Watford Williams. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Moses Hopkins; daughters, Demetrias Hopkins and Andrea Nicole Smith. Mattie loved reading, watching her favorite show Bar Rescue, enjoyed laughing and being around her family (immediate and extended). She enjoyed sitting outside getting air and people watching as she referred to it. She attended C.G. White High School in Bertie County, NC. She then moved to New York after graduating High School where she met and married Moses. She later retired from worker’s compensation and moved to Virginia where she lived out her days.

Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Towan Lamont Hopkins (Kamaria), Toni Demetrias Hopkins-Williams and Joshua Lamar Smith; great-grandchildren, Demi and Caiden; siblings, Preston Williams, Donald Williams and Josephine Scott; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 12pm at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. Burial will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Temperature checks and mask will be required to enter the building. Mask must be worn properly the entire time and we ask all guests to social distance as much as possible.
