Obituary for Martha Ann Titus

Martha Ann Titus passed away November 25, 2022 at the age of 89 in Chesapeake, Virginia. She was born in Wabash, Indiana to the late Harley and Edna Tait.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jerry Lynn Titus.  She was a devoted, loving wife, mother, and “GIGI” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Pamela and Buddy McGinty and Valerie and Bill Rockwell; her grandchildren Jennifer (Matt) Hinton and Christian (Carrie) McGinty; Christopher (Kasey) Brooks, and Ryan Brooks (Emily Lee); and her great-grandchildren Carter Hinton, Crosby Hinton, Payson McGinty, Adley McGinty and Charlie Lynn Brooks.

Being a Navy wife provided the opportunity for Martie to travel to many places during her lifetime.  They lived in Key West  where she gave birth to Pamela and the Philippines, where she gave birth to Valerie.  They visited  Guam and Hawaii along the way and she became initiated into the Royal Domain of the Golden Dragon.  Martie setup home wherever they were stationed, which included San Diego, several times in Virginia Beach, Gaeta, Italy, Melbourne, Florida and Chesapeake, Virginia.  She also visited Athens, Greece, London, England, Austria, Germany and many sites in Italy.

In Martie’s earlier years she was an avid square dancer and custom made her own dresses and Jerry’s matching shirts to wear when square dancing with the Dixie Squares.  She also came up with some very good Halloween costumes.  One year she dressed as the showy Carmen Miranda and sang “I’m a Chiquita Banana.”

A memorial service in remembrance of Martie will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA.  A private interment ceremony, where she will join her beloved Jerry, will take place at a future date at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veteran’s Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Albert G. Horton Memorial Veteran’s Cemetery or a charity of your choice.  If you are unable to attend the service, you may watch it at Grahamfuneralhome.com
