Margaret Phelps Dennison Morton passed away March 24, 2021 at the age of 91. Margaret was born to the late Roland F. and Esther Johnson Phelps. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, H. B. Dennison and Gordon M. Morton, Sr. Margaret was a faithful member for many years at Raleigh Heights Baptist Church and most recently a member of Community United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Dennison (Mary Jane) and Lynn Dennison Klinger (Karl); and her three grandchildren, Zachary (Jessica), Wil (Allison) and Esther (Ryan); and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Margaret was a career woman, serving for many years at both The Center Shops and Sewell Dalton Law Firm. In her retirement (at 80 years old), she volunteered at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital and served on the Auxiliary Board. She also led The Widowed Persons Support Group in Virginia Beach for many years as well as served in the Kempsville AARP chapter. Her greatest loves, however, were her church and her family. We will all miss her beautiful smile and positive spirit.
Viewing will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, March 28, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The burial will be private, she will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. Due to COVID restrictions temperature checks and masks will be required to enter the building; seating is limited.
