Obituary for Lizette Perez

Lizette Pérez, 57, passed away on January 19, 2023. Lisa, as she was better known by, was born in Sabana Grande, PR to Celina and the late José Casiano. After Lisa was born, the family moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she grew up and made many memories.

Lisa met her husband of 32 years, Enrique Pérez, when she was young and traveled to her family home in Puerto Rico. Lisa and Enrique married in Puerto Rico and then moved to the United States in 1997 to start a life together. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Enrique “Ricky” Pérez and Celianne “Celi” Pérez. Lisa was a devoted wife and loving mother who worked full-time while also raising her two children. After years of working as a mail supervisor in the law offices of Cahill Gordon and Reindel, Lisa and her family decided to move to Virginia to live a better life for her and her kids after the tragic events of 9/11 in NY.

Lisa was a very caring person with a spitfire personality who would tell you like it is when needed and be the first person there to help you out. Her greatest passion in life was her family and friends. She shared a very close relationship with her mother who lives in New York and tirelessly cared for her siblings, day in and day out. When they could not come to her, she would always make time to see them.

She is survived by her husband, Enrique Pérez; her children Enrique Pérez and Celianne Pérez; her mother Celina; her brothers Bryant Casiano and Cary Casiano; nieces and nephews Karina, Macho, Ashley; and her godchildren whom she loved so much Dashaun, Natalie and Alexis.

Her family is deeply grateful to the loved ones who have provided such critical support during these hard times. We thank you all for your support: spiritual, emotional, and pragmatic.

The family is inviting friends to pay respects on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 6-8pm at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Rd. Chesapeake. A service to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 11am at the funeral home.
