Obituary for Linda C Potter

Linda C. Potter was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on August 30, 2022 at the age of 79.

She was born to Theodore Cherry and Margaret Booher on June 29, 1943 in Norfolk, Virginia. After graduating from Oscar Smith High School in 1961 she attended Frederick College, graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts in History.

Linda married William Potter in December of 1965, and soon after they moved to the Washington, D.C. area where they welcomed three children: Anthony, Candice and Melissa.

After living in Southern Maryland for over 25 years, they relocated again to Niceville, Florida in 1999, where Linda was employed at Eglin Airforce Base as a Human Resources Administrative Assistant in the Army EOD School.

After retirement, Linda spent her days enjoying time with her close friends and volunteering as a tutor with the local school system. She thoroughly enjoyed working with children. She also traveled frequently up and down the east coast visiting family and friends.

Linda is survived by her husband, William; her three children: Anthony and his wife Vicky; Candice; and Melissa and her husband Russell Sanford; four grandchildren: Joshua, Hailey, Spencer and Joel; and sister, Shirley Shepherd and her husband, Garry Shepherd.

Linda was a member of First Baptist Church on Bayshore. A memorial service will be held there on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. A funeral service will also be held next Friday, September 9, 2022 at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake at 10:00 a.m. and followed by a graveside service at Riverside Memorial Park, 1000 Indian River Road, Norfolk where Linda will be laid to rest.
