Obituary for Lillian King Everett

Lillian King Everett of Chowan Avenue of Chesapeake passed away January 20, 2021 at the age of 96. Lillian was born in Tangier, VA to the late Earl B. King and Irenee Euna Parks King. She was the widow of the late Ernest T. Everett, Jr. and predeceased by her siblings, Minnie Crockett, Naomi Bramcato and Erwin B. King. Lillian received her BS degree in education from Mary Washington University in 1945 where she was a member of Alpha Tau Phi. She was a first grade teacher with the Chesapeake Public Schools having taught at Rena B. Wright, Portlock Elementary and Georgetown Elementary retiring after 45 years, in 1982 she was named Chesapeake Teacher of the Year; Lillian was a Life-time member of PTA, Charter member of Beta Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Order of the Eastern Star Berkley Chapter #52, Chesapeake Division of Women’s Chamber of Commerce, Niners Senior Citizens Club, and a member of the National, Virginia and Chesapeake Education Association; she was a faithful member of Oaklette United Methodist Church, a member of the John Teter Sunday School Class and former chair of the Bereavement Committee.

She is survived by her sisters, Helen Wallace, Faye Monk and Maxine Loving; a brother, Bryan King; and several nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID restrictions viewing is limited and will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A funeral service will be held Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Sanctuary of Light Mausoleum at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Temperature checks and masks will be required to enter building and must worn the entire time.
