Leslie Edward Smith, Sr., 93, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021. He was born in North Carolina to the late Harry H. and Sallie Garrington Smith. Besides his parents, was also predeceased by a sister, Mary Ruckle; and his beloved wife of 49 years, Laurah Betty Smith. He enjoyed camping with his wife and family, enjoying several transcontinental camping trips. He also served as a Boy Scout troop leader. “Ed”, as he was affectionately known, enjoyed bowling belonging to several bowling leagues throughout his life. He was a member of Thalia United Methodist Church, and the Virginia Beach Carving Club creating beautiful waterfowl pieces.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Leslie E. Smith, Jr. (Chris), Susan Koeppen (Harold), Brian Smith, and Kathleen Nelson; grandchildren, Marci, Mason, Jason (Kim), Kevin (Cori), Andrew (Jasmine); great-grandchildren, Declan, Elijah, McKenzie, Kerrigan, Isaac, Kenadie, Whitley-Kate, Maddie-Grace; sister, Maxine Leiler; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
A private memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Graham Funeral Home.
