Obituary for Leroy Charles Simmons
Leroy “Lee” Charles Simmons of Chesapeake, Virginia passed away Monday, May 9th 2022, surrounded by his family at the age of 71. He was born in Pennsylvania to the late Charles and Ila Simmons and was preceded by his brother David Simmons. Lee is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Denise Simmons; daughters, Heather Bernstein (Adam), Melissa Noblett (Ryan); grandchildren, Brae (Jeremy), Addison, Leah, Sieanna; brother, Dennis Simmons (Diane); Sister-in-law, Lannett Simmons; and niece, Tiffany Bly (Scott).
A supervisor to his core, in his career and family, Lee was the strong, but mostly silent type. He was an amazing husband, father, and everyone's favorite Papa. He opened his home to anyone and everyone, and there wasn't a person who wasn't his friend. Though he never wanted to be the center of attention, he supervised all going on and would give great advice. In his younger years, Lee was a part of the Glendale racing team in California where he raced cars on the drag strip and boats. He LOVED his Corvette and he always had the need for speed! Lee also loved his job and the people he spent almost 40 years with at Outer Banks Contracting and Barnhill.
The family will be gathering to celebrate his life and countless memories on June 2nd, 2022 at 5 p.m. at Honey Bee Golf Club 2500 South Independence Blvd Virginia Beach Virginia 23456. Please join them for light Hors D'oeuvres and refreshments. Come Casual, Lee wouldn’t have wanted any other way!
