Lawrence Bruce Edge, 69, passed away May 9, 2019. Born and raised in the bucolic countryside of the Catskill mountains of New York State life became an adventure when his mother married a World War II war hero who participated in the D-Day invasion. By the time he left home at 18 with nothing but the clothes on his back he had moved 21 times. He joined the Navy and became a computer and electronic technician. His proudest accomplishment may be that he surfed all over the world and has finished his course as a dedicated Christian with a fine family.

He was the son of the late Arthur and Edna Moller Edge. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Pamela Edge. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Shores Edge; son, Lars Edge; daughter, Elisabeth Edge; grandson, Tyler Edge; sister Victoria Edge Decker and her husband Stephen; brother Perry Brown; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Jacoby and her husband George; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Harvest Assembly of God, 525 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake. Please visit to leave a condolence to the family.

Elisabeth and Lars, what a beautiful service for a unique and well-loved man. I'd like to think your dad is surfing on the same celestial beach where Dave is fishing. Find peace and comfort in the beautiful memories.

I really wish I had a photo of the old days in Virginia with Larry in it. It's hard for me to imagine now how young he was in those days, how young we all were. But after I reconnected with him, years after leaving, I was happy in the feeling that Larry seemed to have found a way forward and lived a full life. Life is always messy, but Larry maintained his faith, and positive attitude and met new challenges head on. I'm going to really miss trading stories with him. So sorry we couldn't be with the family today.

To Mr. Edge's family and friends I send my heartfelt sympathies. The loss of a loved one, no matter the circumstance is difficult on the heart. God can provide comfort in prayer to help us through such a delicate time. May good memories and laughter with friends lessen the sorrow of his passing and may you all have peace. -Philippians 4:6, 7

I will always remember you as one of the best humans of all time. You have been dear to me and my parents since I met your son all those years ago as a kid. I know you are smiling bigger than ever now, and Heaven just gained an awesome new member of God’s Family. Fly high, Larry Edge. You will be greatly missed!
